Autism And Bt Toxin In GMO Corn

Strains of corn, cotton and potatoes have been genetically modified to contain a gene copied from an insect-killing bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis, or Bt. This gene is in every cell of the plant. When insects eat any part of the plant - the leaves, the stem, the roots they will consume the Bt toxin and die.

Bt - Bacillus thuringeinsis was engineered to be a poison that creates holes (pores) in the digestive tracts of insects. This Bt-toxin inserted into the genes of plants was intended to create a plant that was also a pesticide.

When first introduced, we were told that these toxins had no effect on humans. A recent study done in France has proved that this is not the case at all. The study found that ingesting GMO products produced tumor and organ damage in rats.

Many other professionals also believe that Bt-toxin produced in corn and other vegetables and grains may be the underlying cause of many of the diseases in the US. Arden Andersen, DO, PhD, MPH, an agronomist, medical doctor, and one of the world’s top consultants on advanced soil and crop management, believes that the Bt toxin is specifically implicated in the development of autism.

“It appears there is a direct correlation between GMOs and autism.”

Dr. Garry Gordon, who is on the Board of Homeopathic Medical Examiners for Arizona and is Co-Founder of the American College for Advancement in Medicine, warns:

“If [Bt-toxin] is causing an increased propensity for our intestine to become permeable or leaky and for foods to be presented to our bloodstream in a premature fashion, the havoc that it will cause will be across the entire spectrum of disease, from premature aging and Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s to autism to cancer to asthma.”

Research At This Time Is Inconclusive

A Canadian study done in 2011 at Sherbrooke Hospital discovered that 93% of pregnant women they tested had the Bt toxin in their bloodstream.

And 80% of their unborn fetuses also had the

Bt toxin in their blood.

Unfortunately, there currently isn't enough conclusive research or evidence to link GMOs to autism spectrum disorder. But that being said, we're still waiting for the link to vaccinations, too.

But I don't think we have to wait for the scientists in their crisp, clean white jackets to help us.

We can think for ourselves and become the researchers.

We can find the answers for ourselves.

We have to.

How To Remove GMOs From Your Family's Diet

Follow a GFCF diet, then remove all Genetically Modified Crops from your diet. These would include anything made from the following plants and vegetables:

Corn

Soy

Cotton (Cottonseed Oil)

Sugar Beets (Most Sugars)

Papaya

Zucchini

Yellow Crookneck Squash

Here are some of the best tips on following a GMO free diet given by the Tucson GMO Free Project.  And also be sure to check out the Non-GMO Shopping Guide. They even have an app you can download to your phone to take with to the grocery store.

Video Worth Watching on GMOs

If you haven't had the chance to watch it yet take some time to view the movie Genetic Roulette. You can read more about the movie in my post, What Do GMO Foods Have to Do With An Intolerance to Gluten and Other Food Intolerances?

This video below about how GMO foods alter organ function is a bit deep (a little warning) but it's showing through research how eating GMO foods can affect our organs and overall health and well being.
